We begin the extraction process with the design of the blasting, demarcation of the exploitation area, perforation, blast and detonation. Currently ten banks of 20 metres high each are exploited. Our machines then dig the blastholes, usually 10 of them, with an average depth of 20 m each. The distance and depth of these holes are calculated so that the extracted stone has the ideal dimensions for the phases of grinding and classification.

Each blast extracts about 20,000 tonnes of stone. Before continuing with the blast, we verify that the whole nesessary safety precautions have been taken in order to avoid the uncontrolled projection of stones and avoid accidents that could be caused by the expansive wave. The fertile ground is recycled for remodelling and reforestation of used-up sites.

The grinding plant is located at the foot of our exploitation, thereby minimizing fuel consumption in transport and the time required to bring material to the plant.

Our transportation and loading machinery, frontal loading shovels, backhoes and dumpers, capable of carrying up to 50 tonnes per trip, provide the raw material needed by the production plants. The stone is then crushed to different sizes and selected.

Once classified, these materials can be distributed directly to our clients or sent to other crushers for the production of materials of a smaller diameter (sands of different sizes and Belfiller 63 µm -calcium carbonate-). After this process, the product is classified for selling.

We also sell materials for rockfill or other aggregates, as well as a sterile subproduct, which results from the pre-sieving process done to rod the stone of impurities. Canteras La Belonga does not produce any kind of dangerous spills or polluting waste.

It is important to mention the  composition and quality of the sands and micronized products, due to their resistance and homogeneity, in the manufacture of  mortars, concretes or asphalt agglomerates, as well as placing on the market the Belfiller 63 µm, calcium carbonate >98% purity, finely milled (maximum size 63 µm) for different uses such as construction, industry, environmnent (removing sulfur from combustion gases, wastewater…), agriculture (fertilizer, corrector of soil acidity…)
